The Longest Night (Act 3 - Guns)

"RPG, RPG. take cover" guns yells as he drops prone and starts taking quick shots down at the russian near the house

With a spray of bright blood Guns catches the soldier with the RPG over his back in the forehead, his body falling heavily on the floorboards. His men now prone also fire - their bullets tearing up the wood of the tiny bits of protection offered by the house. The Russian AK fire has similar effect with one round barely missing Pilk's leg the bullet thudding and kicking up ground beside it.

Another round of fire exchange sends a bullet through the wood of the houses minor cover into the leg of one of the Russians from Guns however the hail of fire from the GI's beside Guns manages to finish the soldier jiggling slightly in pain off and send him falling backwards. The AK return fire again is ineffective, not even landing close to the prone group.

Again a bullet kicks off the hat worn by a Russian soldier from Guns two round fire, and the final burst of fire from the GI's puts down the other Russian as he slips off the edge of the slightly raised backdoor into the muck.

with a grunt guns quickly gets to his feet and starts moving towards the farmhouse, pointing towards the back door the russians had just exited from "grab that door" he yells to the 1st squad GI's with as he runs up and grabs some cover against its frame.
"and pilks i want that RPG and any ammo for it that dead ruskie has" guns says just before he takes a quick peak inside the room

As Guns hand drifts to the door barely inches from it the ground begins to rumble and shake, Pilks reaches down and scoops up the RPG and the back pack carrying reloads and looks to Guns. "Something big coming."

looking towards pilks, gunsnods and turns from the door waving pilks over
"give me the bloody RPG" guns says as he looks at the other 2 GI's "move to the corners of the building, but stay low. i want eyes on whatever is commin at us"

Ducking around the corner slightly Leroy shouts above the now audible roar of a loud engine; "T-72!"

Pilks hands over the RPG-16 with it's pack of three rockets to Guns then takes cover amongst the bits of wood scattered around the back of the building the Soviets were previously using, Vance doing the same.

Leroy ducks back for the cover as well, "Sweeping for any soldiers it sees running, bloody hell!"

moving back into cover quickly guns cheaks over the RPG for damage and then looks towards leroy "range and direction, is it gunna come past that corner"

North from your position at the farmhouse backdoor suddenly the shed erupts into a orange explosion with shrapnel flaring through the night like small meteors, high caliber weapons exchange somewhere in the direction of the shed along with a audible solid thunk of heavily armor and many more explosions echoing off. Leroy nods, lifting his rifle and checking south from the farmhouse. "It's coming around that northern side. We got a bit before it makes it around about half a minute!"

looking about slowly, guns shakes his head
"your not gunna like this guys, but were going to take that tank" guns says as he looks each of them in the eyes "im going to hit it with the RPG in the flank, if one shot doesnt get it done im going to need you to give me the time i need to reload" frowning slightly guns clasps pilks on the shoulder firmy " im going to need you guys to take make a run for it so that the turret doesnt track onto me, if we can get this done. its going to save alot of lives tonight. can you do that for me? can you do that for your mates?"

Pilk smiles after a second in thought. "Well, I always told Vicki I'd be a hero." He gives a short laugh, then checks his M16A2 clip. Around your small group you hear the continuous echo of gunfire, explosions and shots.

Vance removes his helmet then uses the same hand to rub the dirt from his face, slightly sheltered from the rain in your current position he looks like a man who has been through much. "I don't know about you boys, but I got my ass here all the way from the lines. We'll take that tank alright and nobody is going to die doing it neither. Get him first shot Sarge."

Leroy gives a slight chuckle, "We're to close for it to bring that huge barrel to bare anyway, we just need to pick off the tank commander if he's using the fifty on top."

With that the men hunker down further into cover, the ground shaking almost violently.

guns grins to his men as he brings the RPG to his shoulder "good to have you boys with me" before hunkering down into the cover and waiting, his eyes looking through the targeting reticle wating for the tank to enter his feild of fire

As the giant bulk of the T-72 tank roars into view it's sight is threatening compared to the size of the house it drives beside and it's tracks rumble the house causing glass left on the windows to break from their minor holds.

Positive he has the shot Guns fires. Perfect hit. The rocket spears into the wheels treading the track with a vicious blow knocking the steel wheels inwards with the blast and kicking off the tracks in a shower of large steel threads bringing the massive metal beast to a halt. Tiny bits of shrapnel shower over the men in cover, the bits of wood absorbing the angry swarm of hot steel.

guns ducks back into cover and starts reloading the RPG while yelling at his men
"cover that god damn tank, if so much as a hatch opens i want whoever emerges covered in hot lead"

Guns reloads quietly, his men watching the tank. Eventually as he is prepared to fire again the tanks hatch does indeed open and as the tank commander comes into view and the tanks turret begins to rotate however the huge barrel merely comes above the small group the opening burst of fire from the GI's misses the lucky soldier as he grips the handles on his DShK, Guns begins aiming up the enemy armor once more.

The rocket detonates into the side hull of the tank, a inside explosion blasting inside the tank and it's engine suddenly dies causing the turret to lock lifeless and some fuel begins leaking out around the shattered armor, although caught in a shower of shrapnel the tank commander proceeds to open fire with his DShK, a bullet tears through the wood cover and poor Leroy's chest explodes under the high caliber fire bits of gore showering the rest of the cover. Again the return fire from the GI's is ineffective.

"fall back" guns yells as he pushes himself out from the cover and quickly makes his way towards the corner of the building

With a growl Vance pulls a grenade from his webbing and flings it on top of the tank. Although missing the tank commander completely it makes a satisfying phoof, as it explodes throwing shrapnel all over the tank commander and the initial explosion taking the mans life. The cover Vance was using absorbs the shrapnel from the fragmentation as Pilks and Guns crawls for safety. "That's for Leroy you f*rking dog!"

as he makes it around the corner guns reloads the RPG before swinging over his shoulder, and readying his styer. "ok guys, thats going to draw some attention, best not be here when it arrives. move quick and low towards the tree line, and try to keep the farmhouse between us and the main enemy formation." looking at both men for a moment guns smiles "you did good, but now we have to move, stay tight" and with that guns starts to run low and fast towards the treeline

A direct path would cross to the left of the Silo's, and over the tracks. From there on the only adversary seems to be a BTR-80 traveling the open ground and firing on allied soldiers it sees using headlights and a single spotlight to seek out pray.

guns and the two GI's move quickly and quietly towards the left hand side of the silo, stoping breifly at the railway enbankment to catch their breath and have a look at what is ahead of them. and to guage the location of the BTR-80

The silos provide ample cover from debris around them, the tracks are made shortly after. In the night the BTR-80 is turning around in a patrol circle, a squad of about ten Russians visible sometimes as well near it some two-hundred meters from the tracks.

Pilks watching the north leans to the left and says, "Incoming friendlies."

A moment after three British Paratroopers grab cover along the ruins and tracks with Guns and his men, looking worse for wear the men are covered in muck and blood. One of them is still armed with a RPG-69 captured from the forest engagement. "Good to see you, Chaps. We were feeling a bit lonely."

looking towards the 3 para's as they arrive "good to see that somebody else made it" guns says "even if ya are poms" he adds with a cheeky grin.
"grab some cover and keep your eyes peeled while i try to patch me leg up" guns says as he takes out his aid kit, tearing it open with his teeth. looking at the contents for a moment he tucks the Syrette of morfine in his jacket pocket and begins applying the pressure bandage
"ahhh that hurts like a mother f*ucker" he exclaims as he pulls it tight.
looking back towards the men he asks "we have a couple of RPG's, so if it spots us that APC shouldnt be a problem, but i would much prefer that it didnt. so we are going to wait till its moved past us and make a run for it. sound good to you guys?"looking over the railway embankment for a moment guns adds thoughtfully "if we do get spotted we need to take out that spotlight, and try not to get bunched up out there"

The men never receive a chance to answer as they get interupted by the boom of fire and explosion that could only belong to one vehicle now. The now familiar rumble of the ground tells men who have been through this before all they need to know. A paratrooper pushes up off the railway to look down it towards east then ducks back quickly into the cover provided by the ruins around the silo. "T-72 incoming along the tracks, it's slaughtered the convoy!" As he finishes his comment the roar of it's DhSK can be heard pinging off and tearing up armor in the distance.

"sh*t" guns yells quickly before motioning to the silos " grab some cover and consealment in there, looks like were going to have to do it again, eh boys" guns says with a smirk and he jumps up and moves into a better possition within the ruins
looking towards the para's guns grins "you know the deal, stay hidden and wait for me to fire and spread it out" guns says as he runs past a good looking spot in the ruins and points the parra with an RPG to it "i want you here, and make em count"
guns finaly reaches a good location and crouches down. setting his styre down on the ground next to him and loading his RPG, before takeing aim and waiting for the tank to come closer

The T-72 tank pulls into view from between the giant silo's, treading its way along the top of the tracks. The commander is clearly visible sitting on the top manning the DShK and looking for targets. It seems to take forever for it to pull into open view onto the right hand side of the silo's and with that two rockets shriek out into the night at the force of brutish armor. Guns rocket cuts into the tracks like before, the rocket impacting on the wheels and shattering the steel links causing them to roll off uselessly, the paratroopers however swings wide, missing the body of the armored hulk and streaking off into the night.

The troopers not armed with the RPG's fire as well, single shots from the American GI's and double tap single shots from the paratroopers. One bullet manages to thud into the tank commanders arm, however the man remains standing.

Seeming stunned the tank commander does not fire, however the tanks mighty turret begins to rotate to point towards the silo the men are around using as cover.
