Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski)

The M60 team continue to lay fire down towards the retreating BMD from it's position as work begins fleecing the dead and dying near the woods. Within minutes the grisly task is completed and the trucks are fully loaded with the units camp supplies and captured soviet gear. One of the trucks has been converted to an aid station and carries all the soldiers wounded during the fire-fight while the other two are loaded with an assortment of gear and additional troops, with night falling over the shattered Polish landscape the group prepares to move out. Driving over this terrain littered with creators, debris, fallen fencing, knocked over trees and other problematic damage will not be a easy one during the night however it seems a necessary one. The last of the men begin to mount up, choosing rides as and awaiting orders.

After finishing triaging the last wounded solider, Kawalski begins work on the on the most critical patients just as the trucks begin to roll out. Look up at the swinging light over head he says more to himself then anybody around him "Good think I'm used to roads like this back home. Just like Detroit during barrel season."

Throwing off another set of bloody gloves out the back of the truck he looks to Butcher"Well Butcher looks like we are in for long night." then with a sigh and a smile toward the patient in front of him he wraps the blood pressure cuff around his arm and begins to inflates it.

Upon dark and after withdrawing from the bluffs 3km Weidermann signals a halt. Weidermann turns to his Snr NCOs in turn.
"Kawalski, get me a casualty list!"
"Rottchester, get me a list of captured equipment and intel!"
"Captain Gunson, with me please."
Pulling a map from his trouser pocket, "Right Captain we need to find a lying up point south of the crossroads, our recce party is looking at for ambushing. I want to organise an R.V with the recce party. We definitley need to marry up and redistribute some of the weapons."
"SIG! Bring me the radio and get me a SITREP from bear."
Weidermann orders the truck engines stopped and puts out 3 pairs of sentries 1 audio distance to provide early warning.

The travel through the harsh post-war landscape of Poland was harsh going - the trucks plowing through many obstacles violently however now in position as desired a GI brings the trucks 25km radio receiver to Major Wiedermann, stating "It's Private Trips from the recon team, Sir. He said he would put Bear on."

Now with the mobile base being set up it seems the best time to take care of jobs that may require some concentration, including counting ammunition, role-call and medical attention. The men set in, tired however with a longer night promised to them they prepare for the next few hours.

GI's also pass word for the men in charge of each smaller duty to report to Major Wiedermann, all the while the GI with the receiver continues to communicate for Wiedermann with the recon group.

THe radio clicks alive; "This is Shadowfox, repeat this is Shadowfox. Bear recieving. Go ahead Sir. Ova'"

The reply goes through; "Shadowfox Warfox here, requesting a sSITREP"

Checking over the last few soldier's dressing Kawalski stands and jumps out of the Five ton truck. "Butcher, finish up here and keep checking on them. You know the rutine. I'm going to see what is happening here."

Walking over to where the officer's have set up a make shift command post. He makes it there just in time to hear the radio transmission. Who is Shadowfox and Warfox? Whats going on here? Who makes up these code name? Sounds more like a video charecter then code name."

Captain Gunson in the meantime has grabbed hold of a map. Currently awaiting a location from the SITREP in order to organise a Rendez-vous.

The radio hums to life;

"Warfox. We got a situation 'ere. Have encountered and engaged forward Russian defence elements with confirmed sightings of 3 russian armour units, propable t-72's. We have managed to link up with elements of US 2nd Marine Division from Kutno after pullin' 8 of their recon unit from the proverbial firestorm they stumbled into. i made the call to engage and pull their arses out sah! Rendevou at around 10 clicks west of hot zone. Master serg'nt Atkins out ... Oh ... Make sure you bring Kawalski wid ya. Ova."

Looking down at the radio, Kawalski says "Regulators mount up." Turns and walks back toward toward his 5 ton truck. Yelling at Butcher"Start cleaning out that Ambulance, we got incoming wounded. 1 patient is known with unknown injuries, alerge.."chuckles to himself "I'm pretty sure we will be moving out very soon from the last radio transmission"

The radio man leans over his receiver; "Shadowfox, proceed to three clicks east of the highway crossroads. Await our arrival off-road to the south - We will rally with you there - have Sanchez link our groups together."

Moving quickly the unit prepares to move out, all the while Captain Gunson motions over the map and then points out in the forest south of the highway a logging camp "Jawel", "Hope that's still there, less then half a kilometer inside the woods, but should be a good place to hold out - Hopefully some fuel too."

It's not long before the huge five ton trucks are mobilized, their bulk crashing their way through the cluttered war-zone of Poland's fences, trees and wrecks. Less then ten minutes pass and forward men with Corporal Rottchester in lead are sent out to the highway to locate the forward scouts of the recon group.

Through training and expertise the two groups finally meet back up over the highway, with more then a moderate surprise as the unit discovers it's now in possession of two M1 Abram tanks. The group now with the recon forces added back onto it move southward, following a dirt trail which leads them directly to the nearby heavy Polish forest - And continues until the compound of the logging camp comes into view. Very old with some of the fence fallen in disrepair the place is not strongest base a military unit could hope for, however with it's large open shed which was obviously once used long ago to hold the logs before being processed in the workshop shed across the yard from it, it offers plenty of room to park the units vehicles. The small house is two storied with a large bunkhouse upstairs, kitchen and recreation and meal room in through the front door. Once holding twenty or so loggers it has more then enough room to hold most of the unit. Nothing has been left behind besides some old pans, firewood, and the saws and tools used in the workshop to cut down the logs. A quick look over the area agrees that it has not been used for a very long time and is still abandoned and the unit moves in.
