The Longest Night (Act 3 - Guns)

Your head continues to throb with the pounding of the outside explosions, men rush over the room seemingly faster then normal however with the distance lights of the burning wrecks burning like beacons of truth you realize you need to act and shake off the pain in your head. The upstairs room of the shed has many fortified windows, with a ladder cut roughly center leading down into the lower room. The child is downstairs with his wounded mother.

shakeing his head quickly trying to clear his head as the explosion ripps though the convoy outside, guns jumps to his feet and moves quickly towards one of the southern windows crouching down against the sand bags around the window sill and looking out at the burnning wrechage of the convoy

"OK 3rd squad, grab your shit and lets get moving, ground floor ready repel infantry" guns yells as he moves towards the ladder and starts climbing down

Outside becomes a roar of combat that vibrates within the walls of the shed, between flashes of light from muzzles outside it is utter confusion as men burst from the farmhouse outside, taking up window positions engaging American and French infantry all over the nearby compound, many caught outside. It becomes difficult to tell where any of the American soldiers have been placed when they were integrated with the French defenses. However the two Private Gibson and Dekker of the Marine Force recon are easily distinguished covering by a southern window downstairs amongst other numerous GI's exchanging almost point blank fire. Somewhere Major Wiedermann orders a withdraw to the forest, however enemy troops are already all over the position.

There seems to be little or no room left inside the transports when sudden the northern walls are shredded under high caliber MG bullets, the bullets impacting on nearby soldiers and killing them in a shower of blood and gore. A yell issues from near the southern entrance - "We can't wait any longer! Get those VAB's moving!" the French soldiers rush inside the APC's and begin closing them moments after you hear another yell from the front "Get that door open!"

Moving quickly to the window that the force recon's are firing from guns takes a knee for a moment, peering outside quickly seeing tracer fire flashing back and forth, intersperces with the muzzle flashs of AK's and M16, curiously the M16's seem to be further away than the AK's
"we have ruskis inside the wire, get your pig stickers out and on boys" as he pulls his head back into cover and glancing towards the mother and child huddleing terrified in the corner
"hey you"guns yells to an american private as he rushes past, catching his arm guns pulls him to a stop and points towards the mother and child "get those god damn civies out of here"

looking back to the forece recon guys guns cocks his rifle and fixes his bayonnet. "WITH ME!" guns yells as he vaults out the window

Without hesitation the Force Recon soldiers follow out the window, the scene outside resembles one of utter chaos with bullets catching in crossfire from friendly forces over the large opening area towards the farm house. Immediately to your right advancing around the western side of the shed is a unit of Russian troops, six in total, one carrying a PK by bipod they haven't seem to have noticed your heroics a mere ten meters away.

You allow two quick shots into the PK soldier, one bullet thudding into the ground just behind his leg while the other chips into his chest, almost staggering the man however before he can fall the Force Recon soldiers add their M16A2 fire quickly into the target, the combined fire bursts out two more holes in the soldier sending him to the ground lifelessly gushing blood.

The Russian soldiers return fire with the AK's, the bullets thudding and zinging around you and your men as they unleash however one Force Recon was not so fortunate, he bore three bullets cutting into his legs as he falls into the ground. He continues to gush blood unconsciously in a steady stream from his right leg.

Guns bullets sink into one of the soldiers causing him to stagger off his feet, the remaining Force Recon missing the target. The return fire is devastating with two bullets carving through the flesh of Guns's right leg causing him to crash into the ground while a third grazes his stomach. Although staggering Guns does not fall, his leg pouring blood down onto the damp soil below in the rain.

wincing with pain as the bullets tear through his leg guns pulls and grenade from his webbing and lobs it towards the enemy yelling "grenade out"

A mere ten meters away the grenade pings onto the side of the shed before landing right beside the Russian soldiers a mere moment of held breath then the explosion tears the soldiers through with shrapnel shredding men and shed walls alike. As a reward a burning piece of shrapnel flings back from the scene of carnage digging through Guns's chest armor and into his flesh with a minor amount of pain. A piece also embeds into the abdomen of the remaining Force Recon however compared to what the now the mostly dead and dying Russians you men got off well - Although you can not see the effects inside the shed. One Russian remains, on his kneels firing his AK with a almost blank expression on his bloodied face, the bullets hissing through the air.

The bullet impacts taking the man to the ground to his final rest as the bullet thuds into man's chest in a spray of blood. As the ringing finally leaves your ears you focus on the surrounding area, directly south to the house another explosion had erupted and you see soldiers pouring into the farm houses door. Soldiers have mounted a PK MG onto the window of the house and are now pouring fire towards the allied soldiers, while many others have set up on the windows. Less then fifteen meters away three GI's are fighting bitterly in hand-to-hand with a overwhelming number of Russian soldiers, both sides attempting to rifle-butt and bayonet the other to death.

"sneaky russion f*ckers" guns hells as he looks to his bleeding leg, teraing off a peice of his shirt sleeve and trying it tightly around it, while he is doing this he looks towards the force recon man that is still alive "you ok" guns asks before pulling the M16 clips from the dead mans webbing.
looking about him guns sees a group of GI's battleing feircly with a large number of russians, bringing his rifle to his shoulder he starts to fire into the russians

"Just dandy, Sir!" Replies Dekker with a grunt as he also unleashes a spray into the crowd of Russians pushing onto the American GI's in melee. Between you, your not sure which one Russian catches a bullet into him sending him down into the thick yellow grass under him, a trail of red sprayed across the strands. With a shake of his head Dekker shouts above the conflict; "No good, Sir! We'll hit our own men at this rate!"

"with me" he says to the force recon as he goes "lets give these boys a hand"

On the advance Guns manages to put two quick shots into a Russian soldier sending him down for good in a pool of blood, the Force Recon shows similar skilled shooting and puts another down with lethal efficiency. However as the soldiers push onto the outnumbered GI's they bring two down with a combination of fire and hand-to-hand killing them, the final one swings and unloads his clip into the crowd of them, seeming like a horrible movie as they descend onto him.

Now a mere four meters from the action of the group of five remaining Russians.

At point blank the next round of fire is much less effective as the Russians reach out and make aiming hard by bunting the barrels, one bullet still manages to graze one of the Russians arms in the progress. One of the five Russian soldiers fires into the prone GI, a bullet digging into his leg just before another two Russians spear Bayonets down into him finishing the poor young man off.

seeing the last of the GI's go down guns frowns and flicks the shot selector to full auto and empties the rest of his clip into the crowded group of russians

Bullets hiss from the clip as they flash into life the muzzle flashes illuminating the faces of the Russians as twenty-five bullets empty into the night until the gun clicks empty. One bullet finds a way into both of the forward Russians, sending them staggering to the ground and reaching for their AK's, the third also suffers a bullet barely gazing his leg, he turns and returns fire with no effect, trailing out into the night beyond. The Force Recon also unleashes a single burst, one of his bullets putting a end to the life of one of the staggered Russians.

As the rifle reloads the pair of remaining healthy Soviet soldiers back-peddle for space, firing a burst of live fire into both allied soldiers their bullets missing mostly from their AK's however two bullets pierce into Dekker's chest causing him to fall backwards into the muck before he can fire.

Guns fires into the closest soldier raising himself back onto his feet, one of his two quick shots finding a home sending the soldier into the grave. The group of two retreating Soviets continue to back peddle and fire their AK's, one bullet pinging from Gun's helmet. Out of the emptiness of lost hope Privates Leray and Vance advance from behind Gun's and their M16A2 firing in a single burst each manages to impact two bullets into one of the Russians and cause the other to stagger as a bullet cuts into his leg although he remains standing.

One bullet catches the wounded Russian soldier in the chest sending him down into the muck finally. Pilks also steps into view with the other Gi's and claps Guns on the shoulder. "Good to see you, Sir! We were following that there blast we heard."

Nearby the farmhouse echoes a explosion as a grenade issues from one of the frontal downstairs rooms and the PK machine gun finally stops hailing fire over the grounds. Directly to the small allied groups right a group of four Russian soldiers pile out a backdoor to the farmhouse into the rain, one soldier armed with a RPG. Spotting Guns and his men barely ten meters away they point and take cover using areas of the back of the farmhouse.
