Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski) Empty Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski)

Post  Admin Thu Jun 04, 2009 12:50 pm

With the co-ordination of the two officers the task of getting the camp broken for mobilization is a fairly simple process. The NCO's input in committing orders to the gathered GI's helps immensely. Minutes pass away easily with Grease taking loving care of the trucks ensuring their up to the coming task of off-road driving and the attempt to remove the camps lasting presence from the area to help throw off anyone searching for the unit being the main time-consumers.

It's not before long that Wiedermann adds he will like to lay a small surprise for anyone finding the deserted camp - And sets to work.

Final gear count comes up quite promising with a few extra M16A2's and a good supply of other gear, however no food. The minor amount of food collected managed state the hunger of four men and get them back to their feet for now, but with another three complaining of weakness it was most definitely a problem.

It begins to dip into late afternoon with the sun finally coming to rest on the hills illuminating the area with it's dying light when word is passed through the camp that a group is on approach, men on foot a couple of hundred meters away crossing the open field in a direct path that the jeep had left on towards the sparse wooded bluff that the camp is situated upon.

The unknown group of men continue their approach, cautiously watching the small wooded area they are stepping towards. Looking over the dozen or so men, it would be hard not to notice their woodland fatigues, AK assault rifles and even a PK, RPK and radio backpack. One man even has a large RPG over his back.

They're steady progress will bring them to the camps woodland edge within a few minutes of travel.

Noticing the solider who is motioning him to turn are look in to the forest. Kawalski quickly deflates the blood pressure and slides his stethoscope to his neck. Turning to look at the forest, he sees the men walking though the trees. He quickly picks up his rifle and turns to the men under his care.

In a hush tone he says "Alright boys up and at 'em. Going to get you all to the trucks. None of you are in any state for a standing fight. Buut sitting down might be a different story" laughs to himself. "Guess this bug out just got messy."

As the group stands and makes there way to here the trucks are parked grabs the solider her was just treating. "Hey not so fast." rips off the cuff and waves in front of the solider "This here is my bread and butter" smirks and then walks off with the rest of the group.

Quickly Major Wiedermann moves carefully to Captain Gunson, tapping the man on the shoulder;

"Captain unpack and organize those M60's - I want one on the right and left hand side of the forest bluff - Find Sergeant Kawalski and get him onto mobilizing the trucks with some GI's - It's time to move!"

He points to the far right hand side of the forest bluff; "I'm moving to there - Get Dykes and Corporal Rottchester to round up some boys and get them to the center and when your done, get on the left flank. Let's give these soldiers a warm reception."

With a strong air of confidence he quickly grabs a few of the GI's and moves to the location he had just sighted, a ten foot away. Digging in with his M16A2 sighting off the approaching enemy soldiers.

Captain Gunson on hearing the Majors orders gives a quick, sharp acknowledging nod.

'Aye Sir..'

With the afternoon sun slowly descending into the hills, Captain Gunson flattens down his beret. He passes his gaze across the slowly mobilising troops, half are no more than lame soldiers wearily trudging their way through the forest toward the awaiting trucks.

'Lets hope this shit doesn't quite hit the fan just yet.'

Jacob grabs a couple of passing GI's.

'Find Sergeant Kawalski and inform him to move the troops onto the trucks now. Make sure he is aware that we will require a transport that can take all those men who are behind. It needs to be running in case we have to move out quickly. Get to it soldier!'

As the GI moves off quickly to find the Sergeant Jacob turns to the second infantryman.

'I want you to find Dykes and Rottchester, tell them to grab a few able bodied men and get in the center and prepare for attack. When you're done soldier get across the the left flank at the double, you're with me.'

Jacob swings his MP5K from off his back hits the magazine release catch and checks the top round is seated correctly. Hammering the magazine back into position with an audible click he quickly flips the weapon to its left, grabs the cocking lever and smoothly makes ready. Satisfied, he ensures the safety catch is on then proceeds to do the same action for both his pistols. Grabbing a pair of binos he notices a couple of GI's giving him worried looks.

'You men have weapons and ammo?' They nod. 'Well get yourselves over here now, we're not on f%*king holidays! Follow me.'

Jacob takes off at a sprint towards the left flank. finding the nearby trees a gorse bushes ample for a well concealed attack position he motions the infantrymen into position and, taking a back seat, points his binos towards the approaching men.

Looks up from helping the last of the of the starving soldiers in to the 2.5 ton truck. He sees a GI running toward him. After repeating the orders the Captain had issued. Kawalski chuckles to himself. "One step ahead of him. Tell him we will be ready for when we need to bug out."

Turns from the solider running to the line and yells at Grease"Yo Grease get that Five online, We got bukoos Russians inbound and we are getting the fuck outta dodge." Looks over to Butcher"Make yourself useful and jump in the passenger seat."

Climbing to the drivers sear of the 2.5 ton truck Kawalskibegins to turn it over while muttering to himself"Were in the middle of BFE Poland this fucking bastards find us shit! At least we have water despite no food!

Corporal Rottchester is already moving when his orders arrive, he jogs alongside a handful of troops and kneels down on the hastily forming defensive line. "Alright lads?" He grins and takes a pair of binoculars offered by the soldier beside him.

What he sees doesn't seem to be what he was looking for, shaking his head slowly he hands the binoculars back and brings up his L85, "Hope they've got some sort of anti-armor gear left here..." He mutters quietly as he pulls the bolt on the side of his rifle back, "Or we're buggered." He lets the bolt go, a round sliding into the rifle chamber with a sharp click, turning his gaze back to the approaching forces he waits.

The M60's are established at each wood flank in a professional speed, and its not long before a Private passes by each combat position carefully, issuing the orders of "Fire on Wiedermann's shot, be parepared any moment now."

The soldiers are now a mere 150 meters, you can almost hear them talking amongst themselves. There eyes watching the woodlands with apprehension.

Captain Gunson lays perfectly still behind his gorse bush, he can see the enemy clearly now. Unhooking the MP5K from its sling he harshly whispers to his small team:

'When the order is given I want that RPG Gunner down instantly, when he's down fire into the mass and suppress the enemy. I want them on their belt buckles before they can spot our location.'

Lifting the SMG into aim, he lays his sights down on the RPG carrier.

Looking out toward the forest where the enemy is walking though from the now running truck. Kawalski's foot begins to tap. He unholsters his sidearm, pulls back the slide and places it back. Looks to his "Jump bag", then turns to the rear window and yells

"Any of you guys back there know how to drive one of these?"

Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski) Empty Re: Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski)

An impressive shower of bullets rains down upon the men advancing in the open. Each soldier at the tree-line firing until their magazine was empty, the machine guns opening up ten rounds each themselves within the five seconds. As impressive as the roar of gun-fire was however, it had little effect upon the advancing unit. A few suffered gun-shot wounds, but none that would put them down for good. The enemy unit reacts well under these conditions - Almost as if they had been prepared for such a circumstance, most crouching low and continuing the advance, a few dropping low to deploy their deadly arms such as the RPG, RPK and PK. The radio man also drops prone, obviously reporting into his phone-set.

Gunson notices his light caliber SMG rounds drop painfully short of the mark, not threatening the enemy troop at all. Rottchester's carefully aimed shots run far from the mark. While Wiedermann's tactic of emptying his magazine onto the coming troops seems to work splendidly as a bullet impacts on one of the front ranks.

While most of the tree-line spends their time slamming in fresh clips the Machine Guns continue to unleash their deadly torrents - Some bullets scoring light wounds again upon the enemy advancing unit and also sending one of the front line soldiers down for good. Those of the enemy not prone continue to advance closer, making what seems like close to a hundred and twenty meters from you.

The PK targets the bluff hill in the center and unleashes it's torrent of bullets, a couple of the bullets impacting onto the Rangers stationed their, Dyke scoring one burning wound and Private Peter's sufferng a grievous wound sending him low. While Rottchester is suddenly greatful as a burning PK bullet strikes the ground protecting his lower half kicking up dirt in its wake. The RPK turns it's attention to the left hand side of the woods, its rate of firing pouring out at a more alarming rate then the PK. The devastating rounds find their marks on one private within the woods, the bullet lodging itself into his shoulder blade and causing the young private to fall to the ground. A bullet also lodges into Captain Gunson's chest, the pain burning through his mind and flesh for but a moment before adrenaline takes over.

Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski) Empty Re: Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski)

Post  Admin Sat Jun 06, 2009 7:40 am

Once again the units guns pepper out a horrible amount of fire upon the advancing unit. This time the effects are bloody causing the first two soldiers with rifles to evaporate under the fire, the machine gun and rifle rounds tearing them to pieces. The clatter of the deadly Machine Guns together with rifle fire also put down two soldiers in the rear ranks of the riflemen.

The advancing riflemen - Their numbers cut down to five fall to the ground prone to grab as much cover as possible, while their guns near the rear open up once more on the bluff and flanks of the woodland. As the PK fires Rottchester's luck holds out, the deadly bullet again kicks up dirt near him, however unfortunately two of the privates near him are not as lucky, the PK's bullets sending them to the ground with horrible injuries. Another PK bullet hits the Ranger private that was hit before - This time a steady stream of blood issuing from his arm. Rottchester's men, with Dyke is effectively cut in half, only a wounded Ranger, a healthy one Dyke and himself left.

On the left flank, the RPK continues to hammer the woodland. A private to the left of Captain Gunson suffering a small bullet wound to his abdomen.

Rottchester fires his rifle upon the radio man, missing the man as he leans to speak into his radio more with his last two bullets from the magazine.

The RPG soldier continues his crawl forward.

Captain Gunson looks down at his smock a searing pain burning through his chest..

'Claret? The dirty rotten bastards have ruined my smock!'

Jacob looks up at the enemy, adrenaline kicking in a look of sheer determination crossing over his face. Scowling and snapping off orders at his men..

'Men it's time for a frontal assault. If the enemy won't come to us to devastate them, then we will go to them.' he looks at the Machine Gunner 'When I say the word I want you to load up a full belt. You will provide us with covering fire in burst mode to conserve ammo. Once you see we 30 meters from the enemy position cease your fire.' Turning to the additional GI of the MG crew
'It's you and me all the way mate. We assault the position. Once he is loading and providing covering fire keeping the bludgers heads down, we will dash forward then dive to the floor pop off a couple of rounds and repeat. Once we are around 50 meters away, change to a full mag, one more dash then uncork one of those grenades and throw it down that RP's throat. Then we unleash automatic hell, spend about half a clip and fight through the position.'

Jacob flattens his beret against his head splashing drops of blood over it.

'This is where we make soldier out of you men. LOAD!'

Running low in what in what some soldiers have dubbed the "monkey run", Kawalski heads towards Rottchester's group. As he gets with in meter of the group. He power slides, like he was sliding in to Home Base In to the group ending up next to a wounded solider that is laying on the ground not moving. Quickly looking at each of the wounding men, making sure there air way is clear and there breathing normal.

Again the machine guns clattered off death onto the field, again filling the fields with blood. The M60's drop another soldier never to rise amongst their front rank, the other two prone as they are seem badly wounded amongst that rank of riflemen. Behind them, another man seems to be bleeding out, while the man to his right seems to be firing his AK harmlessly far off the mark on the left hand flank. Behind them, the RPK reloads, and the PK unleashes another violent volley onto the center. Their radio man suffers a fluke shot from one M60, causing his head to explode in a bright shower of gore.

The PK's fire is much less effective then before, it's bullets raining around the woodland finding no marks. Again Rottchester's lucky streak continues, a bullet that would have carved his leg in two barely kicks up the dirt beside him.

Rottchester mutters to himself and like many of the other soldiers amongst his unit he inserts a flesh clip into his L85. On Gunson's flank the GI's not to him acknowledging his order as they refresh their M16's magazine and get ready to begin the rush.

Reaching the Rifleman's front rank the RPG soldier continues to keep his head down and crawl. It was at this point that the rules of the battle changed. Three fresh whistles report ending with a ear-shattering 'Da-boorm' as explosions rip the ground on the right flank just off Major Wiedermann's position covering him and the men with him in dust, dirt and ineffective HE shrapnel.

The noise of the fight had covered over the advance of the large BMD which had rolled onto position beside the prone troops - And now released it's PK Machine Gun onto the right hand flank. A soldier two right of Wiedermann's position suffers a PK round wound, causing a flowing wound from the soldiers shoulder.

With a sigh Kawalski realizes the man he stopped by first is beyond his help and will perish within the next few seconds.

Seeing the BMD coming crash though the trees, Kawalski rips off a dog tag and then grabs the other wounded GI by the shirt and beings to drag him back toward the where the running trucks are. Shouting so that he can be heard over the chattering of the automatic weapons."We need to get out here now! You" looking toward the unwounded GI "Help your buddy with the messed up shoulder. We need patch him and the others up."

In the center position Sergeant Dyke turns to his men, interrupting his sustained fire and reload routine to speak to those around him; "You heard the Staff men, get your shoes on we're out of here."

He pauses to look to Corporal Rottchester. "You coming Brit?"

The men in the center position now had long seconds of drawing fire to face as they began to 'pull out'.

Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski) Empty Re: Breaking Camp (Act 2 - Wiedermann, Rottchester, Gunson, Kawalski)

Post  Admin Sat Jun 06, 2009 12:35 pm

With a powerful throw Captain Gunson sends grenades out to the field - Both of them fall somewhere near twenty-four meters away from the woodland edge. The grenades begin spewing fourth a thick gray smoke as soon as they leave his hand and bounce and twist their way on impact between the attacking men and their intended targets.

While men from the center continue to prepare to pull out, men from the left prepare to assault the enemy position - It's M60 continuing to rain bullets through the smoke. Men from the right continue to chatter away additional fire.

Bullets fly through the smoke both sides, unable to see the results to well to the enemy all you can do is witness the return fire. Machine Gun fire peppers the center position once more through the smoke - some rounds causing horrible injuries resulting in Sergeant Dyke's and a nearby GI both falling near fatal wounds and a third landing on Kawalski's right leg - the bullet viciously impacts almost tearing the leg right off as it passes through and by luck alone the wound barely avoids any injury that would have it useless forever. Another round lashes one of Gunsun's men with a moderately bleeding wound. Machine gun fire also tears down onto the right flank, catching one of Wiedermann's men mortally in the chest sending the man to the ground.

After that deadly torrent of fire however, the guns on the other side of the smoke silence and only your own M60's continue to fire out to the combat zone. Captain Gunson discovers the reason as he begins to make his way through the smoked open fields, and the M60's behind him finally silence with sight lost on him and his three GI's. All the men who had been in the field were dead and dying with only the lonesome looking PK machine gun standing on it's biped to ever tell they were ever dangerous at all - With the BMD pulling away towards the mortar's that are just under eight hundred meters away and being readied for evacuation. The field has been won, with only the mortars and their crew of ten men readying to depart left.

Post  Caladan Sat Jun 06, 2009 3:53 pm

With the field apparently won, for the moment, Corporal Rottchester raises himself to one knee, not trusting the field entirely yet. Swinging his rifle back on its sling he pats himself down quickly, no holes, always nice.

"Make sure these men get moved back to the trucks." He orders, waving a hand towards the dead and dying, addressing anyone able bodied (Or close enough to) nearby.

With that he swings his rifle back around in front, now the bullets have stopped flying, it is an acceptable time to break cover, and break it he does, running in a half-crouch towards the enemy dead, intent on scavenging whatever equipment or information that can be gained, scanning for any leftover living opponents or new threats as he goes.

Kawalski falls to the ground letting go of the GI he was dragging after being hit in the calf. With out even thinking he looks over the GI he was dragging. Seeing that no new holes are him he grabs a battle dressing, slaps it on his leg and yells to the other helping the GI who had been shot though the shoulder "Hey come over here. He's fine he can walk." glances to the wounded man "Keep falling back and tell the other medic to make an aid station in that other Five ton truck. Also I'll need him to look at me first. I need to be fit enoug to treat the rest of you."

Seeing the other GI come over to him. 'Alright, you learn't basic first aid right? Time to use it. Tie off that dressing and tell if the blood keeps coming though." Feels the pinch of the bandage being tied. Before the solider can even look at him, Kawalski Grabs another dressing. The GI slaps that on, and eases the blood flow. "Alright buddy help me back, need to get the rest patched up."

Kawalski limps back to the trucks and heads over the make shift aid station. Butcher walks up to him and looks over the wound. "Be careful. And keep the leg!" Calls over a group of GI's "Ok I need a couple of you to take a handheld radio and head out to the Major and the Captain. With the Captain he has ran off trying to take down that damn tank. If you can't get to him don't worry about it. We have body bags for the limely bastard who has more concern with glory then his men. The Major might also be doing the same thing. If you get shot at don't go! I need some of you to bring back the wounded and the dead. Bring them back to me and Butcher Wounded first! Same again if you are being shot at don't going in. I don't want more wounded. Get to it!"

Watches as he some of the soldiders run in to the fray once more. Turns to Butcher"Get ready we are going to be have some fun very soon!" He then begins to unpack the contents of his Jump Bag.

Reaching the fallen enemy, Corporal Rottchester slings his rifle and kneels down, searching bodies and moving weapons and ammo to a small central pile as he goes. One of the GI's heading out into the field jogs up and Jason waves him over, "Hey Private, strip down those MG's and start moving gear back to the trucks, grab some extra hands if you can find anyone free. We can use anything that spits bullets, and the rations will help."

Jason stops, unfolding a map taken from a body briefly, red blood staining the edges, it is refolded and tucked into his side pockets, along with a small book from the soldier. Finding nothing else of interest he grabs up four of the russian medical kits, two in each hand and heads back towards the transport area to lend a hand with the wounded.
