Roleplay thoughts for a forum game (just for you paul)
Ok, I have been thinking for a bit of something to offer the forum roleplayers - and I feel that maybe a short start (possible ongoing as well) Dark Heresy game would be nice - I know Paul in the states is keen
So I began thinking .... What to do what to do what to do - and then it hit me.
Rehash an old 40k roleplay I started once before but we never got round to finishing.
Space Wolf Recruits. - A lot of the details of this are OOC and I won't explain until it is a need to know basis - ie keep you guys that dont know the Space wolf recruitment trials and processes completely in the dark until such times as the characters need to know - give the info as it is required - and also ask you guys that sort of know - not to go looking it up to get a refresher - treat it as a blind fun game.
Basically what you do know is the Wolf sky gods recruit from a planet that is pretty much a viking stylised culture - the land is frozen wastes and a feral world - made of islands and some continents surrounded by vast and dangerous oceans (large sea serpents inhabit these). Your culture is warlike and brutal and it is know that the bravest warriors are taken into the sky by the sky gods (Space Wolf marine chapter)in their great shiny flying beasts.
That is it, simple and fun. You would start as a young adolescent viking warrior, possibly even in the middle of a battle where one tribe is going to overtake another (common everday norm) and go from their. Prove yourself in combat and get selected. then their would be some small tasks etc and trials for the players to undertake (not becessarily full roleplay - but a chance for players to try some skills - get to know each other - and gain a few skills etc). then it steps to the next stage of the recruitment process. this is where the full roleplay stage would kick in. The new recruits that make it this far are dropped in the middle of the frozen wilds, quite a way away from the base, in a loincloth and with a single bone dagger. it is freezing, snowing and they must survive to get back to the base. the process is difficult and poses many fun and difficult roleplay choices. ie do i go it alone? better in numbers? do i trust the others? They are told to be the first one back etc. It is near dark, wolves are howling (the great fenrishian wolves are probably equivalent to dire wolves in dnd - or the big arse wolf in 300?). In this there are no established leadership - unless the group decides to do it. You play your toon how you want - but be consistent (craig - no raping the wildlife lol!!!!!).
So thoughts peeps? something i can offer to the online forums (more comfy running this than shadowrun at this stage).
Also still plan to run the pen and paper as well for us inverellians.

if this is a yes, dont rush and make neophytes just yet stu - i think ill have a feral world warrior rank just before the neophyte to allow a little more skill choice for the players. - and add character Ill post all relevant data in a thread so people have time in their own thinking places to consider their characters

lol Awww, I picked up the book straight away to make a neo! Close quarters all the way, I got my eyes on a assault marine if I ever survive that long Plenty of time for me to hack my way to that in the Space Wolves tho, happy!

Adept, arbitrator, assassin, cleric, guardsman, imperial psyker, scum, tech priest. Idea could be picking from these classes and taking a 'tribal version' of them? I guess I would go guardsman personally, although scum - assassin and arbitrator would be close.
Re: Roleplay thoughts for a forum game (just for you paul)
Oh I of course should mention with what I just said we would swap the relevant skills out for something non-tech.. EG, lasgun for spear. Laspistol for dagger ect.
Re: Roleplay thoughts for a forum game (just for you paul)
might be easier to just go a neophyte from a feral world - not sure - i think the neophyte skill base will not suit the pure recruit - ill try and have a look this arve for something like a feral world tribal member

just got the book here lol - had a look at the tree - ill select some of the tree and post it - players will get there 400 pts to spend on a select range of skills/talents (but if they manage to survive they will get the implant activations for free) - easily fixed lol

ok off the neophyte list it would be awareness, climb, concealment, dodge, navigation ground, silent move, survival, swim (all skills 100pts each), sound constitution (100 pt trait).
stu - can u send the list of stuff for starting as a feral world please?

Ok the roster so far is:
Stu - GENERATED
Craig - NEEDS TO GENERATE
Paul Ross - GENERATED
Grant - GENERATED
Paul - NEEDS TO GENERATE
Graeme - no idea yet - guessing not enough time for this one??
Scott F - NOT PLAYING
Dan - assume not playing
can i get a yay or a nay from all others please - just so i know if i need to wait on anyone or kick off - it wont be too large a game at this stage - pretty much 2 acts only to get players from young fenrisian warriors to finally being prepared to be a Space Marine Blood Claw.
