While Guns is moved out of the entrance of the bunker with Kawalski other troops wait patiently for progress into the dimly red-lit and steel lined hallway leading off to doors in every direction. Right around the corner to a sealed heavy steel door that closed from a security lock on the right hand side of it, same with the doorway leading further on straight ahead. A less secure, thinner steel door leads off to the left into what you could assume is the tinted black glassed room overlooking the hallway itself.

The decapitated Russian soldiers body still lays in a thick pool of its own blood in the center of the one mighty bunker door, clearly having its head pulverized by the doors closing with deep scarring marks on its legs.

Eerily two Cameras, one outside above the entrance and another on the walls of the hallway scan over the group, studying the men outside and around. Bear lays injured heavily, and Sanchez moves to regroup with the Captain.

Kawalski finally drags Guns back to the entrance. Sets him next to Bear. He begins work on treating his leg, then moves on to Bear's leg. After Kawalski has finished both of the men he then re-assesses them both. Checking there BP, RR, PR and looking over the dressings. Seeing that everything looks normal continues treating the rest of the men with lesser injuries, oblivious of the cameras that are watching his every move.

Bear opens his eyes once more, blinking several times as he struggles to focus on his surroundings. His gaze fixes on the panning camera above, watching it for some time as he tries to come to grips with where he is or what has happened.

The Paratroopers take the initiative, moving into the bunker with Corporal Briggin's in the lead of the three privates with L85 rifles at the ready. Sweeping the hallway was a simple task and is complete within moments with reports at their is a door down the right hand junction same as the one ahead closed with a security pad beside it. Raker however manages to discover that the door leading left was open, and slides into the chamber looking out through the black tinted glass windows. He calls the room clear however relays that there are another two exits off this room, as soldiers move forward to secure the locations one group comes across a survivor. The man sits crouched against the wall his head resting into his legs on the floor, he wears what was once a pure white long lab coat and is now in tatters with lays of caked blood all over it. He makes no motion other then his breathing with his face hidden into his legs and a trail of dried blood all the way from the door to him.

Dickens moves towards the man, ordering him on the ground face-down, while Whitter covers him however the man makes no new movements. "Can you hear me!?" Dickens shouts at the man. As Dickens crouched beside the man shining his flash-light onto him in the dim red emergency lightning the man suddenly reacts and launches at Dickens, a quick burst from Dickens gun hits the man directly into the chest but still the man lunges on and falls on top of Dickens. The man's exposed face is covered in green scales with a long snot bearing a jaw of long jagged teeth, with a long tongue that hangs between them, he bites down onto Dickens neck, a fleshy sound as he tears the throat out of Dickens and Dickens yells become a bloody gurgle and his hands clench over the lab coat tearing it from the man-creature. The man pounces towards Whitter as he continues to unload bullets into the man-creature, the bullets seeming to have little effect on it as it lashes at him with clawed green-scaled hands. Yelling Whitter backs into the control room with the tinted black windows, one of the bullets must of wounded it for its charge stops and it seems a little bewildered for a moment before charging towards the door leading out into the hallway, fire from all the nearby soldiers impacting on the man-creature at short range and tearing shreds in its clothing revealing more green-scaled skin. With a thud it runs past everyone including the wounded, Kawalski, Gunson, Sanchez, Bear, Guns and all of the rest of the unit now in position either in the tinted control room or searching the other room and enters the now abandoned hallway.

Somewhere a synthetic female voice announces; "Containment bio-hazard breach in progress, enabling defense protocol level six." Outside in the corridor heavy machine guns slide out from the walls and track the man-creature as it rushes towards the exit. They fire, and this time it's hide does not save it, the large caliber bullets tear it to pieces and make it splatter against the walls, everyone can hear the sliding metal sound of the bunkers doors shutting again as the sentry guns now begin tracking back and forth over the corridor.

The man-creature had been found in a small bunk-bed room holding four beds and some personal effects. Another room off to the right holds some pistol cabinets now empty and a holding cell.

Kawalski stops treating the solider that he currently with and turns toward the door when he hears the gun fire. Walk slowly to the door and yells in to the dark hallway "Gunson! Sanchez! Anybody! What the hell is happening down there?". Not waiting for a response he turns to two soldiers. "You and you, stand guard at the door and keep an eye and ear out for anything." Walks back to where he has the wounded stationed. Noticing Bear is waking, he walks over to him and takes his pulse. "Welcome back to the living." smiles "How are you feeling now?" places Bear's arm back on his chest.

"Kawalski *cough*, I feel like shit bro. Half baked shit." he continues to blink continually, attempting to focus on the man before him. "What the hells happened?" He tries to raise his head, but it is too much effort and he slumps back down, licking his dry lips.

Kawalski smirks, "Well you look like bruised turd too. Not sure whats going on. Gunson and Guns went to look in the bunker. Guns messed his leg up and dragged him back and treated him. Sanchez went in after Gunson as did the Brit para boys. Heard gun fire. This time a bigger gun. Haven't heard anything since then.

Whitter turns to Kawalski in the control room after the man-creature has died in the corridor and says to hm, "It got Dickens Doc! He's in there!" He points to the bunk room door.

Still talking to Bear. It's my job smiles and turns quickly to Whitter. "Sh!t, take me there! packs up his kit and runs after Whitter.

Reaching the room where Dickens is Kalwalski bends down and looks at the body. Reaches in to his shirt and pulls of a dog tag. Stands and shakes his head. "Theres nothing I can do for him. His throat has been torn out. He basicly bleed to death. Examing the body close he grabs a lab coat that is still in the dead mans hand. "Hmm what to do we have here?" begins to search the coat and it's pockets.

Noticing faint movement left in Dickens. Drop his back and pulls out a couple ampules. cracks them open and draws out the liquid. Finds a vain on Dickens and injects the liquid in to there. Quietly he says to Dickens "Sleep now"

As Kawalski makes his administrations he notices something, a small heeled black shoe is poking out from under one of the bunks, it moves very slightly.

Elsewhere the group looks out the black tinted glass of the control room, the large caliber guns still probe the hallway outside, moving back and forth. Inside the control room several various things one could expect line the room, a great many computer consoles, a desk with drawers, comfortable computer chairs and even a small table with a cold cup of coffee on it.

Seeing the black shoes move under the bed. Kawalski slowly draws his pistol and stands up. Motions to the other soldier's using hand signals to keep everything quiet. Pulls out his flashlight and lays down aims both the flashlight and pistol to under the bed, waiting to turn it on once the other soldiers have taken up there positions to cover him if anything goes wrong.

Under the bed, shivering as she looked into the torches light rests a woman. Her eyes are large, and emotional not unlike a deer caught in the headlights of its doom on a stretch of road, her long black hair is meted with dirt and clings together with dried blood that seems to be covering her all over. Her once pristine white long lab coat covers her short skirt and business-looking top, it is obvious by her slack mouth expression and glazed over eyes she can not see whoever it is looking under the bed at her however it is clear she is distraught.

Kawalski keeps the light on the women but lowers his pistol. Signals to the other soldiers that is in eye sight of the women to lower there weapons. "It's alright, we are here to help. Come on out from there." In a calm and soothing voice that comes with years of practice in the field. Waves at her in an effort to coax her out with his pistol hand.

After some more exchange of words eventually the woman comes out from under the bed, and is brought into the control room. She introduces herself as Professor Chantelle Rivers, a Chemist employed by Aventis Pharma, a French medical company stating that the 'thing' that was in the same room as he was her husband until began shedding his skin.

With a glare Dyke pushes a hand into the woman's computer chair in which she's sitting just above her shoulder; "You mean to tell me that thing, was human!?" He shouts at her, shaking his head slightly. "How the heck does that happen Professor? How does a man just GROW scales?"

She looks down at the threatening nature of Dyke, and talks more quietly. "They don't." She begins. "Aventis designed a compound that can heal wounds suffered in the battlefield to some minor extent, called BMS - It does not last long however, only works long enough to bring the host back from serious damage until they can fight again."

Chantelle looks back up to Dyke; "It worked, it worked beautifully, the compound repairs any serious damage and is even capable of bringing a man back from fatal wounds." She looks away over her shoulder to the right away from Dyke's hand. "It was not enough though. They wanted more, they wanted super-soldiers. Work on a new compound began called CGE - The results are unstable and highly efficient killers out of anything it infects, it has mutated into a virus that can travel through blood, bite and many other methods."

She turns and glares back at Dyke, "It was people like YOU that did this to my husband, wanting more and more, not happy with just something that can save lives!"

While listen to Chantelle Kawalski begins looking though the bloody coat pockets that he got of Dickens. He pulls out to auto-injectors. Holds them up to her. "So I guess thats why you made them in Auto-injectors? Guess any solider knows how to use them since we have been using NAAK for years now" He looks over the to auto-injectors. "How does the BMS serum work? Where is the documentation of video of the test that you did with it? Got anymore of them if they work as you claim as they do? Also where is the incinerator. I'm going to destroy CGE. It has no use to me and nobody should use it!." takes the injector from his case and looks over it, then over to Dickens. Rubs his chin, walks over to him while taking Dickens pulse Kawalksi say "You said it can heal fatal wounds? How fatal can it heal?

<OOC>
Information on NAAK
US troops would know about a NAAK, they are trained to use them in theaters where chemicals warfare is happening. Unsure about other countries but I would guess they would have something similar.

Dickens throat has healed. The bite marks gone and replaced with perfect skin with no scar. His pulse is erratic and incredibly quick, as if he had been running for half a day without rest. The Professor tries to rise to her feet to follow Kawalski but is pushed back down by Dyke, "Stay right there" He insists.

"The test data is further inside the complex." She states offhandedly, "Perhaps these computers can access them," She goes to pull something from her lab coat and Dyke presses the barrel of his AK into her neck suddenly. "Slowly." He tells her coldly.

She pulls a blue card from her coat pocket and slots it into the nearest computer, it hums to life happily with the access card inserted. She begins typing on the keyboard when the synthetic voice sounds over the intercom inside the room; "Professor Rivers, your security clearance is revoked - You are compromised. Please remain where you are and await security."

Professor Rivers glares at the computer in front of her, however it was not there she should of been looking. Outside the Sentry Gun attached to the right wall had rotated towards the window and now fired it's heavy caliber bullets shattering the tinted glass and on the moment of impact vaporizing the professors upper half as the bullets splattered her around the room.

Swearing loudly, others hide from its deadly reach under the tables and computer chairs, suddenly going prone all over the entire control room.

Watching Dickens throat heal before his eyes, Kawalski mutters "O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick."

Still looking at Dickens, "Please look for me. Much rather know what this can do and if it's safe!

"Professor Rivers, your security clearance is revoked - You are compromised. Please remain where you are and await security."

"What the hell!" Kawalski hits the floor covering Dickens when the bullets start to fly. "Get out the of the room. Throw something to see if it's going to track motion first!"

Halls of the Damned (Act 4 - All Players) Empty Re: Halls of the Damned (Act 4 - All Players)

Post  Admin Sat Jul 25, 2009 6:34 am

Over the next couple of days the team battles their way through the corridors, hallways, underground rooms and testing facilities of the Aventis Research Laboratory. In their travels they must use the bases security systems to make progress through the deadly maze of CGE infected soldiers, civilians and test animals in an almost nightmare of dim red lighting and gun fire they eventually make it out of the facility with the test sample of the CGE and BMS compounds.

Discovering on their travels Russian soldiers from the 25th who had orders to explore the facility and got caught up in the horrors inside, French soldiers left behind on their "pull out" and civilian specialists in working with diseases, that originally were tasked with producing a cure for AIDS which had killed so much of the worlds population by the year 2000.

Eventually the group manage a organized retreat to allied lines, well the only remaining concentration of U.S. forces remaining in Poland at this stage. Commanded by Colonel G. Huston the U.S. military unit control a small sector of space from Kalisz. Life settles down for the remaining soldiers of the 5th and their honorary members from German and the United Kingdom as they get into the swing of resting in the rough field medical tents or begin being put into use in the patrols and standard life amongst the six-thousand or so men under Huston's command. Battles now take a much different role, areas controlled by armies now act like small countries within themselves their former alliances lost under the necessary need to survive in this brave new world. Around the American "cantonment" zone, other countries have made their own similar cantonment zones and now small battles takes place over what land, towns and food sources remain in the world.

High ranking officers in many areas have instilled their own command into a fashion of government with them as the dictators, Huston has a different approach within his zone, keeping military order amongst the U.S. and allied soldiers and deserters who have joined them. The conditions of the civilians amongst this area is much better of those in other zones, and the combined might of armies is long gone.

As Huston decides how to best keep his unit alive he offers all those men who have been with him for the last three years or joined recently a offer to remain on in his cantonment zone or leave of their own free will. He explains that the American government has been dissolved and now the only representatives left are commanders like himself, issuing orders and still trying to carry out the will of the American people in Europe as they were last instructed to do so. Huston intends to restore order to Europe, however his resources such as ammunition, fuel and food supplies seem a drastic problem in maintaining such a large force of men.

The survivors of the 5th and those who had joined on now meet as they have for the last several months, many of them in much better conditions then they had been in the field months before, and it seems with those men up and able to move they must all face the decision that Huston has offered them; to Stay on or to go out on their own.

Thankfully, with conditions of living much of the city is now abandoned and the group have no trouble finding a place to talk under the rubled ruins, with bits of blasted furniture plentiful to sit, or lay upon around a easily supplied wood fire. Outside over the streets with summer's warm glow settling in members of Huston's unit do their patrols over the nearly vacant streets.
